How does it work?

A. WHAT IS Transport Solidarity PROJECT?

  • The CDC Sherbrooke offers 1,000 reduced-rate subscriptions from April 1, 2024 until the end of March, 2025;
  • The monthly buss pass of 87.50$ and 66.50$ will cost 43.75$ and the family monthly buss pass of 99.50$ will cost 49.75$;
  • The number of subscriptions is limited to 1000. You must purchase the pass each month to be entitled to the CDC solidarity rate. The subscription will be canceled after two consecutive months without recharging the monthly pass to allow someone else to subscribe at a reduced rate;

*If your income is very close to the maximum net income, you can apply. Each request is studied on a case-by-case basis.


B. Who is eligible?

You are eligible if you fall into one of the following categories:

1- You receive social assistance OR social solidarity OR employment objective.

2- Your annual income personal (if you are a single person) or family (if you have more than one person in your home) income is below the low-income threshold. (see the table below)

3- If you arrived in Canada since January 1st, 2024 and unemployed, you must submit:

Please note:

  • An immigrant who has a work permit or who is working cannot register for this subscription;
  • A student from the University of Sherbrooke and the Cégep de Sherbrooke has access to the universal pass and cannot register for this subscription;
  • A person aged 65 and over can have a reduced rate pass. She cannot sign up for this subscription;
  • A person who uses Adapted Transport can sign up for this subscription. See the Adapted Transport section on the STS website to find out more.

C. HOW TO REGISTER?

1- Prépare your documents:

  • Prepare an ID card;
  • Prepare all requested documents;
  • Have the number of your bus card, La Vermeilleuse card AND the Adapted Transport number (if you have one);
  • Check here STS service points to find out where to go to get it. The first card is free but costs $15 to replace it;

2- Fill up the form:

  • Take photos of the requested evidence or have the documents scanned;
  • Complete the registration form. Registration is done securely online with a cell phone, tablet or computer;
  • See the confirmation message to ensure the form is saved;
  • Look for missing information in red if you don’t see the confirmation message.

3- Wait for Emails

  • The confirmation email: To inform that the registration will be processed. Check your junk mail box. As long as you see the confirmation message after submitting your form, you’re safe!
  • The follow-up email: To inform if the registration is accepted or placed on the waiting list according to the registration date, or if the registration is refused or incomplete.
